Social Media Concerns……

As part of our Personal and Social Education (PSE) curriculum, delivered by our Guidance team, the Police Scotland School Liaison Officer has been supporting us in educating our pupils on aspects of Cyber Safety.  This includes awareness raising and providing advice on ‘Internet Safety’ and ‘Social Media and the Law.’

Unfortunately, we have recently been informed of reported incidents across Scotland and in our catchment area where adults have attempted to ‘groom’ children via various social media sites and in particular a mobile app called “ooVoo”.  Having become aware of this situation we felt it important to inform all parents of the potential dangers.

It is important that we are all vigilant to the potential dangers these apps and social media might pose.  If you are concerned about any such messages, please contact Police Scotland on 101.
